EKTA Dance Productions

I hope you guys are having an exciting summer vacation so far and are pumped for what EKTA will have to offer you this coming school year. In addition to making sure you guys are having a good time, this message has been posted to address the topic of Letters of Intent for Choreography.

If you wish to become a CHOREOGRAPHER for one of the three EKTA sponsored dance teams (RAAS, BHANGRA or FUSION), you must submit a letter of intent to me by JUNE 15, 2008. If you are planning on coordinating the effort with someone else, everyone in your group can simply submit 1 letter of intent as long as all names are listed.

In your letter of intent, simply state your name, your desire on becoming a dance team choreographer and that you are aware of the responsibilities and commitments. Providing your previous dance and choreography experience is also recommended.

Be aware that responsibilities for choreographers include but are not limited to selecting songs, producing mixes, choreographing routines, acquiring costumes, running tryouts, organizing practices, applying to competitions and becoming the representative of your team on the EKTA Board, on Case Western campus and in the competitive dance world. While you may not responsible for personally accomplishing all of these tasks, you are responsible for seeing that they are accomplished and EKTA will help you out in anyway possible.

If only one letter of intent is received for a certain dance team, that/those person(s) will be appointed choreographer(s) for that team for the duration of the upcoming school year. If a letter of intent is received after the deadline, then the position cannot be guaranteed. However, if more than one letter is received, the EKTA Senior Board will conduct a choreographers tryout during the first week of school.

In summary, if you want to choreograph for Raas, Bhangra or Fusion next year, submit a letter of intent to me (kss24@case.edu) by June 15, 2008.
