Come tryout for Spartan Bhangra, Case Western’s elite competitive bhangra team. Being called Case Western’s elite dance team is no mere understatement because Spartan Bhangra was the first South Asian dance team from Cleveland to place and win at a bhangra competition. In addition, it is believed that Spartan Bhangra is only bhangra team from Ohio to win a competition.

This year tryouts will be different from other teams and previous years. The ability to practice and perfect a routine is valued more than the ability to pick up material quickly. Thus, the tryout dates will be on 9/8 or 9/9 at Wade Fireside @ 9 PM. Come attend either date and learn the routine. Come back on Wednesday 9/10 same place and same time to perform and be videotaped for future evaluations.

In addition, a youtube link will be provided to allow people to practice. Having one or two days in between will allow people to practice and try to perfect the routine as they might during the year. In addition, those trying out the second day (who will also have 1 less day to practice on their own) will be given an extra hour to learn and be critiqued by Kinnell. Come tryout for Case Western’s elite Raas team with presitigious competition titles under their belt such as Raas Chaos (Washington, DC) and Dandia Dhamaka (Ann Arbor, MI).

This year, we will be having a workshop before the actual tryouts for those with an interest in Raas to further their experience in addition for those with experience to hone their skills. The workshop will also show you the style and difficulty of steps for the tryout piece in addition to the season’s actual competitive piece.

Attend one of the tryout dates. Learn a 30 second routine at the tryouts and have an opportunity to practice. Then perform the piece infront of the Raas choreographers and be videotaped for evaluation at a later date.
